The Saginaw Police Reserve Unit has served the city of Saginaw since 1978. Under the control and supervision of the Saginaw Police Department, the Reserves serve the community in a variety of ways. Some such duties include serving subpoenas, writing non-moving violations, traffic control, and working events within the city.
The duties of the Reserve shall include assisting the regular members of the Police Department of this City in the enforcement of law and the maintenance of peace and order whenever and wherever its services are required. The Saginaw Police Reserve unit serves the City of Saginaw gratuitously.
Monthly training is made available to Reserve officers by police department personnel. Some types of training has included TASER, Glock .40, shotgun, M4 rifle, as well as defensive driving.
The Reserves depend on grant money and fundraisers to purchase equipment needed in their daily service.
